Something to think about...

The very essence of faith is a trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a trust in the truth of His Word, no matter what appearance of hopelessness stands before us. So often the Lord is waiting with miracles we cannot yet see, that would seem impossible to our finite minds, and the only thing preventing them is our reluctance to trust and take the next step. If we believe in the possibility of those miracles, then we will work with the Lord in their realization. We will share the journey with Him.

What is it to go forward? Often we simply have to continue in our obligations to others. In these times of despair our tendency is to turn inward toward self. We say to ourselves, Look at all I ve done. What about me? The command to forget self and look outward toward others seems foreign in a hurting state of mind. Yet in His wisdom the Lord knows that such an inversion of attitude is just what we need to break the state of despair that has caused us to stand still. For example a teacher can spend hours fulfilling her tasks, but she is not moving forward and the tasks have no purpose if she does not keep the benefit of the students as her focus. Going forward is the healing power of serving others in our lives. Even a menial task - like sweeping a floor when we feel emotionally paralyzed - can refocus our lives outward so we have the strength to continue the journey. If we go forward, no matter what the obstacles that stand before us, the Lord will part the waters in our way.

Dear Lord,
Thank you for the pumpkins.
Amen.

What now?

Do you ever wonder what you should do?

Do you ever feel like it is time to get out of where you are and go somewhere new while at the same time you are tired of always moving on to new things and would like some stability?

Do you ever feel like you are just spinning your wheels waiting for something to happen?

Do you ever love your job so much you could do it forever and also hate it so much you want to move to Africa so you can live in a small village with out any cars?

Do you ever contemplate going to grad school and then think that would be a waste of time and money cause you don't really want to do what the degree would let you do?

Do you ever feel like you don't have anything to write about yourself to tell people how you are doing because you aren't really doing anything new or interesting worth mentioning?

Do be do be dooooo.......

Turkeys

So I actually decided to post something....many months have passed since I last wrote.... but not so much has changed.  I just wanted to share why I do actually love my job despite the frustrated posts about how unpredictable it is.  I love my job because it is unpredictable. This happened yesterday.

(please keep in mind that my client is 4 and Autistic and until recently couldn't really communicate effectively)

Teacher: What is that you are holding?

Client: It's a turkey.

Teacher: That's right.  Do you know where turkeys live?

Client:  Turkey Hill.

Maybe you had to be there.  Or know the kid.  But it seriously made every other thing that is hard about my job worth it.  And not one grown-up could stop from laughing.

I need a more stable job...

I should work with horses instead of kids!

(haha...get it... stable... horses)

My job is great when everyone is healthy and where they belong, but if they aren't then I don't work.   One of my kids isn't in school cause he got suspended.   Another one missed school and canceled appointments because of sickness.  The other one is always fine but he doesn't really need a TSS.  We are just finishing up his billing cycle and then he'll be done Feb. 10th.

Hopefully things will be a bit smoother next week.  I really do love my job when I can do it but it is hard to not get paid for things I can't help.

Oh well!  Might as well enjoy my morning off
